2020 was a year of great reflection for many people, myself included. While confined, I stitched up the shawl and called it the Airways Shawl because it reminded me of a bird's wings; uninhibited and free. Today we'll be taking a look at this easy, spring time design! It can be paired with really any yarn weight but I enjoyed the spongy quality of the acrylic. Let's dive in!

5.00 - 5.50mm Crochet Hook
4 skeins of Red Heart Super Saver or worsted 4 weight yarn
Fray Check
Ch = Chain
Ch sp = Chain Space
Sl st = Slip Stitch
St(s) = stitch
Dc = double crochet
Ch 6 and sl st into first ch to form a ring.
Row 1: Ch 4 (this counts as a dc + a ch 1) and dc into ring, ch 1 and dc into ring, ch 1 and dc into ring. Ch 3, dc into ring, ch 1 and dc into ring, ch 1 and dc into ring, ch 1 and dc into the ring.
Row 2: Ch 4 and dc in base of ch 4, ch 1 and dc into the next open ch sp.] x 2. Ch 1 and dc into ch 3 space, ch 1 and dc into ch 3 space, ch 3 and dc into ch 3 space, ch 1 and dc into ch 3 space. Rows 9 - 42: Continue pattern expanding in the same way until you’ve reached the desired size.
Row 43: Ch 1 and sc into the base of the ch 1. Sc in each st and ch sp until you reach the peak ch sp. Place 5 -6 sc into this ch 3 sp and then proceed to sc into every st and ch sp to the end of the row. Fasten off and weave in any ends!
