How to Crochet the Diamond Trellis Stitch

Hello Crafties! Today's tutorial goes over the classic diamond trellis pattern! If you like the look of cables, I think you'll be naturally drawn to this lovely stitch also. I've used it for hats and blankets in my own work but, the sky is the limit.

This stitch consists of a really easy 7 row repeat.

Check out today's video and below it, the written instructions:

Abbreviations:

ch - chain

sts - stitch(es)

sc - single crochet

dc - double crochet

trc - treble crochet

fptrc - front post treble crochet

fptrc2tog - front post treble crochet 2 together

*...] - repeat to end

Pattern:

chain in multiples of 14 + 1

Row 1: sc into second ch from hook and into each st along the row.

Row 2: ch 3, dc into the second st of the row (not the one where the ch 3 is coming out of) and into each st across the row.

Row 3: ch 1, fptrc around the third sc two rows below. ( Basically, count over three sts from right to left on the bottom row and work around the third one, creating a single crochet post). *skip 1 st, sc across next 3 sts, fptrc2tog around sc post previously worked] work 1 last fptrc at the end of the row and sc into the final st.

Row 4: ch 3, dc into the second st of the row (not the one where the ch 3 is coming out of) and into each st across the row.

Row 6: ch 3, dc into the second st of the row (not the one where the ch 3 is coming out of) and into each st across the row.

Row 7: ch 1, fptrc around the trc posts two rows below. ( Basically, count over three sts from right to left on the bottom row and work around the third one, creating a single crochet post). *skip 1 st, sc across next 3 sts, fptrc2tog around sc post previously worked] work 1 last fptrc at the end of the row and sc into the final st.

Don't like those uneven edges when you chain?
