Abbreviations:
y/o: yarn over
ch: chain
dc: double crochet
hdc: half double crochet
st/sts: stitch(es)
incr: increase
decr: decrease
2dctog: 2 double crochet together (also considered a decrease)
Pattern:
Make a slip knot on your hook and ch 4
Row 1: y/o and make 2 dc in the first ch.
Row 2: Ch 3 and make a dc in the base of that ch 3. Now make 1 dc in the next st.
In the last st, make an incr (2 dc in one st)
Row 3: Ch 3 and make a dc in the base of that ch 3. Make 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts. Now make an incr in the last st.
Row 4: Ch 3 and make a dc in the base of that ch 3. Make 1 dc in each of the next 5 sts. Now make an incr in the last st
Row 5: Ch 3 and make a dc in the base of that ch 3. Make 1 dc in each of the next 7 sts. Now make an incr in the last st
Row 6: Ch 3 and make a dc in the base of that ch 3. Make 1 dc in each of the next 9 sts. Now make an incr in the last st
** At this point, you are more than welcome to keep increasing until you achieve the width you desire.
Row 7 – 24 : Ch 3 and make1 dc in each st across (13 sts for this pattern)
Row 25: Ch 3, decr in the next 2 sts (2dctog). Now make 1 dc in each of the 9 sts. Make 1 hdc in the last st.
Row 26: Ch 3, decr in the next 2 sts. Make 1 dc in the next 7 sts, then decrease in the last 2 sts.
Row 27: Ch 3, decr in the next 2 sts. Make 1 dc in the next 5 sts, then decrease in the last 2 sts.
Row 28: Ch 3, decr in the next 2 sts. Make 1 dc in the next 3 sts, then decrease in the last 2 sts.
Row 29: Ch 3, decr in the next 2 sts. Make 1 dc in the next st, then decrease in the last 2 sts.
Row 30: Ch 3, make 3dctog and fasten off.
