Embarking on the next project design(s)!

Good day, Crafties!

After finishing the America Kimono, I swore off knitting for a while. But to be honest, after all of that, I decided that I wanted to knit a specific future design this year and now I'm judging myself. 😅

Today's blog will just focus on the current project, which is crochet, that I'm working on. I started

planning this one back at the end of 2021 and have finally started stitching the design in late 2025. That's why I get so amped about my designs because many of the larger ones are years in the making. I can't even begin to describe the feeling of seeing those imaginings come to fruition.

Even more exciting, this pattern already has a solid name! This never happens really and so if you end up with some odd weather pattern in the near future, I'm probably the cause. I apologize.

[Please note that I wrote much of this article before the big ice storm that hit on 01/24/26...sorry I caused a winter storm, y'all 💀]

I won't be revealing the name yet! I feel like that would jinx things and considering progress is going so well, I want to wait until I'm closer to completion to spill that tea.

What can I say?

As I said, I got the vision for this particular pattern in fall of 2021. It is another sweater type garment with lots of texture and imaginative construction.

I started off thinking that 10 balls of Plymouth Encore Worsted would be enough to complete it, but I was so wrong. The color I'm using is Cranberry (174) because it spoke to me! The color is rich and deep and seemed to embody the essence of broody autumn.

So far, so good! The initial 10 skeins created the 2 front panels, the back panel, the midsection and 1.5 sleeves. Not bad, right? As with many of my patterns, this one is probably another intermediate level crochet design. I'm note sure at this point if I'll be releasing it or if it'll end up being a personal project. Right now, the most important part of this process is that I enjoy it.

About the Yarn

Name: Plymouth Yarn Encore Worsted

Composition: 75% acrylic ; 25% wool

Yardage/weight: 100g/ 200yds

The recommended needles/hook size is US 8 (5.00mmm) and is made in Turkey

The first time I ever used this yarn was way back in the day, when Infiniti Crafting Co. went by Infiniti Crochet. Back then, I had a client that made regular commissions for her local organization and I would make afghans with this stuff. It's always had a special place in my heart.

Now, over 10 years later, it's making a return in a design that I'll likely also cherish for a long time. As of the day I'm writing this, I've lost a game of yarn chicken. Yeah, that half a sleeve I mentioned earlier? I literally got halfway though the row count before running out of yarn! So I'm waiting on a fresh order of 7 more skeins in hopes to be able to finish this piece.

Which to be clear, I'm anticipating to be the case. For certain, I know I need to finish the sleeve and an extra component to the garment. We'll see how the rest develops. After all, what's come together so far is a tad different that the original design to begin with.

A sneak peak at one of the sleeves.
